week 10

8 point deep ecology...
I think it is great, especially in a an ideal world.  But unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world, as I am sure we have all notices.  Number 3, having to do with not reducing the richness and diversity is a wonderful concept, but again, unfortunately, there will always be a person that will exploit anything to make their money and that is just the way it is. 

Ecosystems, strong and fragile...

Well, ecosystems rely on every last part of it to flourish and survive.  So if even the smallest participant in an ecosystem is to be removed, them is pulls the rug out from something else.  The effects are not always measurable, but there will always be a repercussion.  Just like the gopher civilization we talked about in class...  the tunnels they built aren't there anymore to store the water.

social ecology...
I'm not too sure I can asses social ecology.  My understanding is it making the lifestyle of people more in touch with nature and the resources we are taking from it.  More of each individual should work and earn their own that wither use for themselves or trade for other goods and services...  not too sure.

Week 12

Would you support the development of a bionic person? Yes, i would.  Because this person being built would most likely need the bionics and hopefully put them to good use.  It would also be a great way to give back to someone who may have lost, and help them to have a functional body again.  i think it is a great thing. Would your view change if this was for military purposes?  Not at all.  besides, where do we think a lot of the research is being done?  they do have funds for projects like this.  A lot of tech that we have is through military research.  I say go for it, see what they can build.

Week 4

Sleep and health are closely related.  I can speak from experience with having a long run with trying to get some quality sleep.  Some nights I will only sleep 2 hours, others I will sleep the whole night.  I can very much feel the effect of a loss of sleep.  I think everyone can relate to having a terrible nights sleep, or maybe even a few nights in a row when stress or any other outside influence is in motion.  As far as sleep cleaning the brain, I can understand that idea.  I am a firm believer in sleep cleans the body of toxins as well, so why would the brain be involved in the flushing of the day's intake and the body's storage of such toxins.  As far as the cells shrinking to allow for the plumbing to work and clean and flush, to me that makes perfect sense.  Why wouldn't the cells relax and shrink a little when they aren't needed to control the whole body,  its their time to breathe.
